BART Rotterdam – artist-made fashion, objects & events

Dutch Dolls was founded by former classmates and superbest friends Geeske de Graaff and Nanna Koekoek, after graduating from artschool, the Willem de Kooning Academy in Rotterdam, where they met in 1999. Before or after (or while they should be attending) class they would gossip over coffee about teachers, classmates and lovers. In their infamous “black book” they would draw pictures of these people, note down top 10s of the most annoying and coolest people and make plans how to be a total nag (they now feel kinda sorry for the boy who received a “smelly letter” in his schoolbag - it had been in someone’s cast for a day!).

It didn’t take long before they started working together. As part of an art project Geeske and Nanna became blood brothers in 2001. It sealed their friendship forever and explains why their cooperation is successful till this day.
